NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER

I have always believed beautiful hair was trying to tell us something.

Long before we notice a change in our hair, our biology has already begun the conversation. Hair simply reveals what the body has been whispering all along.

I just didn't have the science to explain it yet.

The Beginning

I began my career at eighteen, opening the first of what would become a collection of luxury salons. During those years, I also served as Global Creative Director for Aveda, where I had the privilege of caring for thousands of women.

Every day, I witnessed the extraordinary relationship between beauty and biology.

Hair was never simply
about appearance

It reflected vitality.

It reflected resilience.

It reflected what was happening
beneath the surface.

Those years taught me how to observe. They also taught me how much I still wanted to understand. So I sold all but one of my salons and returned to Columbia University, where I graduated with a degree in Science and Consciousness, with an emphasis in Mind-Body Medicine. My studies brought together chemistry, biology, physiology, and the profound relationship between the mind, the nervous system, and the body's remarkable capacity to heal, adapt, and communicate. I wasn't searching for better beauty products. I was searching for a deeper understanding of biology. That understanding would shape everything that followed.

Ayurveda taught me that the body never works one pathway at a time. It is an extraordinary network of interconnected biological intelligence, where every system communicates with every other system. Nothing functions in isolation. That realization became the philosophical foundation of TMPL8. For the first time, I could see that modern biotechnology and ancient Ayurvedic wisdom were not opposing ideas. They were complementary ways of understanding the same extraordinary biological intelligence. When my non-compete ended, I didn't want to build another hair company. I wanted to create an entirely new category. Over the next twelve years, I quietly and methodically integrated everything I had learned—from scientific research, biotechnology, longevity science, mind-body medicine, neuroscience, and the living wisdom of Ayurveda—into a single biological philosophy. Not to create another hair product. But to create the world's first luxury Hair Longevity & Wellness company.

TMPL8 was born from one simple belief: Biology never works one pathway at a time. Neither do we.

Every Biological Breakthrough. Every Biological Intelligence System. Every ritual. Every formula. Every decision we make is guided by that truth. Beautiful hair is not the goal. It is the natural expression of a body supported with intelligence, consistency, and care. That is the philosophy behind TMPL8. It is also the philosophy by which I live.

I went on to found Kelly Van Gogh Colour, the first direct-to-consumer professional hair colour company—a category that has since grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry. Building that company was one of the proudest experiences of my career. Exiting it became one of the most stressful. During that time, my own hair began to change. For the first time, what I had observed in thousands of women became deeply personal. As I searched for answers, I became increasingly convinced that we were asking the wrong question. The future of beautiful hair would never be found by treating hair alone.

As technology accelerated and life became more demanding, I saw chronic stress emerging as one of the defining biological challenges of our time. I became fascinated by the relationship between the nervous system, longevity, and the biological environment in which healthy hair thrives. The sale of my company came with a ten-year non-compete that prevented me from returning to the hair industry. What first appeared to be a limitation became the greatest gift of my life. It gave me the opportunity to begin again. I moved to India, where I spent the next five years living and studying under master Ayurvedic physicians. I became an Ayurvedic practitioner, immersing myself not only in the science of Ayurveda, but in its philosophy, daily rituals, and timeless wisdom. There is a profound difference between reading about Ayurveda and living it. The deepest knowledge is passed from teacher to student through years of observation, discipline, practice, and experience. It cannot be fully understood from books or learned online.

I was privileged to study side by side with extraordinary masters whose wisdom transformed not only the way I understood longevity, but the way I understood life itself. Ayurveda became more than something I studied. It became the foundation of how I nourish my body, care for my nervous system, move, meditate, recover, and live each day with greater intention.

It revealed something I had sensed throughout my entire career: Beautiful hair is one of the body's most visible expressions of vitality.
